Blatantly conning the Innocent Kids!!!!

I happend to visit an interior area in one of cities in eastern UP. I came to know a strange fact which actually made me think over the education system in the rural areas of india. I met a guy, Mohan (name changed), who was staying and teaching in one of the schools in New Delhi. Mohan came to this village in UP on holidays to meet his family and collect his salary from an elementary school over there. I was astonished to find that he actually holds two jobs, one here in this village and another one in Delhi.

On asking him for sometime, Mohan reluctantly told me that somebody else ( another person who has no qualifications to get a teaching job) teaches on his place and on return he pays him a small part of his salary. I could see no shame or guilt in his eyes. He went on to tell me that it was pretty normal thing, lot of people particularly women do this. They stay in cities with their husbands and come here to collect their salaries. Most of them are from good families and they have good relations with the school management. But in few cases the management also gets a share to let the ball roll.

I felt horrible not just by the fact that these people were able to fool the system but also for the kids who come to these goverment schools for education. The future and hopes of these innocent children are being crushed by few selfish and greedy so called 'GURUS' (teachers). These 'acting teachers' are not only unqualified to teach but they are also very undisciplined and don't come for classes regularly. There are no rules & regulations and controls in these schools.

I just hope that state government gets to notice such horrendous act and take strict actions against the people involved and the school management. I have already mailed few government officials and i hope the readers do their bit to support.
